Selecting where to search
To display the Select Where to Search dialog box, click one of the following on the Researcher page:
- Accuris Content
- Articles
- Patents
- Corporate
- My Data
Use this dialog box to specify the document sources to search. Knowledge bases can include Accuris content, Accuris's collections of patents and articles, as well as corporate knowledge bases. The My Data knowledge

When you search in your available knowledge bases, you can specify which knowledge bases should be searched.
The following types of knowledge bases can be made available for searching:

Articles | You have access to Goldfire.com, and you are connected to the server |
Patents | You have access to Goldfire.com, and you are connected to the server |
Corporate | You have access rights to specific corporate knowledge bases |
My Data |
Always available; however, content only appears within if other Goldfire users share items with you, or if you save items from another knowledge base query to this area. |

- To adjust the width of the columns under Knowledge bases, move the pointer between two of the columns until it becomes a double-headed arrow, and then click and drag the column separator to the position that you want.

Language indicators. If the Language Pack is installed, language indicators are shown at the left of each knowledge base. The following language indicators can appear:
The Russian semantic engine is partially supported by Goldfire and is limited in scope. A limited set of corporate categories for Russian is available to users. Russian is not a language that can be translated into and from other Goldfire supported languages.
To select knowledge bases
- Select the check boxes for the sources that you want to target during a search:
- To choose all the knowledge bases in a category, such as Accuris Content, Articles, Patents, or Corporate Knowledge, select the check box next to the category name.
- To choose all knowledge bases in a folder, select the check box next to the folder name.
- To choose an individual knowledge base, select the check box next to its name. If the knowledge base that you want is in a folder, double-click the folder name to expand its list of knowledge bases.
- To adjust the width of the columns, move the pointer between two of the columns until it becomes a double-headed arrow, and then click and drag the column separator to the position that you want.
- When you select the My Data knowledge base, the check boxes for all other knowledge bases remain disabled.
- Click OK to save your selected sources.

Goldfire allows you to copy the URL for a query that you conduct, in which you have specified not only the search term, but also specified the knowledge bases that you want to search in. The benefit of getting a copy of the URL for your query is that you can share this link with anyone who has a Goldfire license and they can easily reproduce your search by pasting the link into their browser and signing into their Goldfire account.
To get a copy of a URL for a query
- Type your query term in the query box
- Click Accuris Content, Articles, Patents, or Corporate
- Select the knowledge bases you want to search in
- Click
, which creates a link to this exact search configuration
- Paste or share this link as needed
To access a query from a shared link
- Past the link to a specific query into your browser
- If you are not signed into Goldfire, you will be directed to do so
- The query, with the specific terms and specific knowledge bases already selected, appears on your screen.
