Using synonyms and ontology sets
When you submit a query for processing, Goldfire automatically generates for each query term a list of synonyms that might be relevant to your original query. It also generates a list of more general terms and more specific terms that might be relevant to the query terms of your original query.

- Click
below the query box.
A list of synonym suggestions appears:
To close the list of suggestions, click SYNONYMS & ONTOLOGY again.

You can submit a related search that substitutes one or more synonyms, more general terms, or more specific terms for the terms in your original query. Select the check boxes at the left of the synonyms, more general terms, and more specific terms on the SYNONYMS & ONTOLOGY panel. These terms replace the original terms in your query, the query is resubmitted, and new results are displayed.
The synonyms, more general terms, and more specific terms that are listed on the SYNONYMS & ONTOLOGY panel are matched to the terms that you specified in your original query, including the part of speech of each term. Noun and verb synonyms are listed separately in the header.
Your Goldfire administrator can create custom synonyms associated with query terms. If you have not selected any synonyms for your query, and your administrator has defined custom synonyms associated with the term you are searching, then Goldfire automatically selects (up to a maximum of five) the custom synonyms to be included as part of your query.

Synonyms and ontology terms in blue are Goldfire Server terms. Synonyms and ontology terms in magenta are terms that you have added.
terms that you add are viewable only to you, not to other users of Goldfire.
