Search results exceptions

When you conduct a query, you might encounter an experience where you don't see any search results. The following are some of the most common cases of why you might not see any search results:

Performing a query with a search term that is not specific enough or is too wide in scope in one or more of the Goldfire sources

Example: Conducting a query of using the word, an in patent collections

In this case, try searching with a word or term that is more specific to your query intentions.

Performing a query in your corporate knowledge base with a search term that has been restricted

It is possible that when you conduct a query in your corporate knowledge bases that you may encounter a situation where you don't see any search results and instead, see a message about restricted search terms. In this case, your Goldfire administrator has placed the term that you are searching on a restricted list because it has security sensitivity associated with it. In this case, you will not be able to see any search results when you make a query with such a term. You must contact your Goldfire administrator for more details.

Warning messages when sorting by modification date

It is possible that when you are attempting to sort your search results by date, that you encounter a warning message in which you are prevented from sorting your search results by date. One reason you might encounter this message is due to an absence of relevant modification date data. Another reason this warning message might appear is when there is relevant modification date details for your search results, but Goldfire lacks the relevant indexing data for documents (in some instances, indexing data can be necessary for sorting by modification date functionality). Contact your Goldfire administrator to rebuild or re-index the impacted knowledge bases to enable the sort by modification date functionality.
