Importing assignee groups

You can import a previously-exported assignee group file (.cgr extension) from the Manage Assignee Groups window. To display this window, click Manage Assignee Groups on the Patents: Innovation Trend Analysis page.

To import an assignee group file, you must have fewer than 1000 groups in your list. You can import only one file at a time, but it might contain multiple assignee groups.

  1. In the Manage Assignee Groups window, click Import.
  2. In the Import Groups dialog box, click Browse.
  3. In the Open dialog box, navigate to the folder that contains the assignee group file (.cgr extension) that you want to import, and then select it.
  4. Click Open.
  5. In the Import Groups dialog box, click Import.
  6. (Optional) If you see a Warning dialog box that informs you about duplicate assignee group names, select one of the following options, and then click OK:

    • Overwrite existing assignee groups. Selecting this option overwrites the assignee groups that are currently in your list with those that have the same name.
    • Skip importing groups with duplicate names. Selecting this option does not import those assignee groups that have the same name into your list.
    • Import all groups, but rename those with duplicate names. Selecting this option imports all assignee groups. However, if the name of the imported group matches the name of a group that is already in your list, the imported group is renamed by adding (new) to its name. For example, if you are importing an assignee group Honda to a list that already contains a group with this name, the imported group is renamed Honda (new) and is added to your list.
